Srinagar, Aug 07: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, on Thursday participated as the Chief Guest in the inauguration of a three-day training workshop titled “Development of Literary & Creative Skills in the New Generation.” The event was organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) at the Chinar Book Festival 2025.During her address, Dr Andrabi said the youth of J&K have immense potential. “Our new generation possesses remarkable creative talents, and I am convinced of their capabilities. All that is needed is to nurture and develop these talents by providing suitable platforms for expression,” she said. “Encouraging and empowering our young people can lead to surprising and positive outcomes.”The Waqf Board chairperson extended her congratulations to Dr Shamas Iqbal, Director of NCPUL, and Prof Aijaz Mohammed Sheikh, Dean of Arts at Kashmir University, for organising this “much-needed” workshop for young writers, held alongside the Chinar Book Festival.“We have emerged from a long period of suppression and violence that stifled the potential of our youth,” Andrabi said. “Events like fairs, festivals, and workshops are essential to help our youth emerge from darkness and express themselves with positivity and confidence.”
