Kulgam, Feb 04: A woman delivered a dead baby after she was carried on a stretcher for four kilometers from Hallan to Manzgam in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district here on Saturday.
A family member told Rising Kashmir that due to the lack of motorable roads, they took the woman to Manzgam hospital on their shoulders.
It took almost two hours for Sakeena Akhtar, wife of Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Hallan, to reach the hospital, her relative said.
The woman was moved from Manzgam hospital to Damhal Hanji Pora Sub District Hospital, where she delivered a baby girl. She was discharged on Saturday afternoon.
Surprisingly, after being discharged from the hospital, the family members and locals once again carried her home on their shoulders.
“We had to travel on an icy road in slippers, which took a long time, and resulted in the death of my female,” lamented Gulzar Ahmad, her husband.
A health official said the patient was brought to the Manzgam hospital from where she was taken to SDH Damhal and delivered a dead baby.
“The woman was brought by ambulance from Manzgam to SDH,” BMO, DH Pora, Gulzar Ahmad, said.
