Pulwama, April 08: The picturesque landscapes of Pampore Karewa in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have become a magnet for tourists, thanks to the enchanting sight of wild tulips in full bloom.
Along the Srinagar-Jammu highway, travellers are pausing their journeys to admire the natural beauty that blankets the region.
Tulipa Stellata is a perennial herb which grows intertwined with saffron.
This Asian tulip species, belonging to the Liliaceae family, graces the region with its delicate yet vibrant presence.
With heights reaching up to 30 cm, these star-shaped pink and white blossoms create a striking contrast against the golden saffron fields.
The allure of the wild tulips is so captivating that tourists and locals alike are drawn to the area.
Visitors halt their vehicles near Lethpora and surrounding regions to immerse themselves in the sea of tulips, often venturing into the saffron beds to get a closer look and capture the moment through photographs and videos.
Narayan Singh, a visitor from Varanasi, expressed his delight at discovering the unexpected beauty of the wild tulips amidst his quest to witness saffron blooms.
“This is a nice experience. I enjoyed a brief stay in Pampore Karewa along with my family,” he shared, adding that it was his first visit to Kashmir and he found the place very attractive.
Pankaj Mehta, a visitor from Indore city, narrated that the beautiful scene of tulips attracted their attention and they asked their driver to halt.
“I spent some time here enjoying the beauty of wild tulips and mustard flowers,” he said, appealing to other country men to visit Kashmir to experience its unmatched beauty.
Even amid the holy month of Ramadan, locals like Adil from Pampore town flock to the Karewa to relish the sight of mustard and tulip blooms.
“Many visit the Karewa with their families during the evening to enjoy the natural scenery,” Adil remarked, adding that after Eid ul Fitr more visitors will be seen flocking the Karewa land.
