Srinagar, Nov 18: National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq on Monday said they want law and order to be managed by an elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters here, Tanvir said one of the NC’s main focuses is to ensure that law and order is managed by an elected government, a move he believes will help tackle issues like minor crimes more effectively.
He said the National Conference is committed to fulfilling all promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, including the restoration of statehood. “The current challenges are part of a five-year mandate, and we are working hard to address key issues, such as economic development and infrastructure improvement,” he said.
The MLA Zadibal said the party is also working on fulfilling promises related to the provision of 200 units of free electricity and addressing the needs of economically weaker sections. “These plans are being actively discussed, and we hope to implement them as soon as possible,” he said, urging the public to remain patient.
Sadiq said the government is focused on improving tourism, infrastructure and trade in J&K. “This will have a positive impact on the local economy,” he said. “We have big plans in motion to boost tourism and infrastructure.”
The NC leader said the party remains hopeful that statehood will be restored very soon which, according to him, will allow the government to solve major issues facing the people.
“Once statehood is granted, we will be able to address the people’s biggest problems,” he said.
Sadiq praises Omar government
The NC Chief Spokesperson praised the Omar Abdullah-led government for “launching initiatives that will benefit the people”. He said all the promises outlined in the party manifesto would be kept.
Addressing media persons at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, here, Sadiq commended Omar Abdullah for his “proactive approach in implementing corrective measures and providing relief to the public on various fronts”.
“This includes the decision to relax the age limit for JKPSC candidates and restore the November-December academic calendar,” he said, according to a party statement issued here.
Tanvir praised the government for passing the special status resolution in the assembly with an overwhelming majority and the cabinet’s resolution on reinstating statehood to J&K.
“The government is diligently pursuing its agenda, which includes twelve guarantees and 25 promises outlined in the manifesto. This progress is being made swiftly with the active support of the people,” the MLA said, adding that the government is actively pursuing these matters with the Government of India and will soon fulfill all of its promises.
