Srinagar, Sept 04: Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday inaugurated the new Plate Girder Footbridge and Ladies Sabaat at Aasari Sharief Khiram in south Kashmir.

She was accompanied by Executive Magistrate of the Waqf Board, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, and Executive Engineer, Qazi Mushtaq, the Board said in a statement issued here, adding that the work on both projects commenced a few months ago and was completed within the planned timeframe, reflecting efficient project execution

Upon her arrival at the shrine, Dr Andrabi received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the local residents. During her address to the gathered crowd, she highlighted the transformative progress made at the shrine since the Waqf Board took over a couple of years ago. “Numerous development initiatives had been undertaken in a short span, bringing tangible benefits to the community,” she said.

Dr Darakhshan said that despite facing multiple challenges, including opposition from “fringe elements”, the Board successfully executed more than half a dozen crucial projects within a few months, all aimed at enhancing the spiritual and infrastructural facilities of this revered shrine.

The inauguration of these new structures was especially meaningful as they coincided with the Milad celebrations, which she described as a moment of joy and spiritual significance.

Local public representatives expressed their appreciation for Dr Andrabi’s dedication and efforts towards upgrading and transforming spiritual centers across Jammu and Kashmir. She reaffirmed the Waqf Board’s unwavering commitment to serving the religious and spiritual needs of the people.

“We are dedicated to our mission and work tirelessly without taking shortcuts. We do not sell slogans or deceive people with hollow promises. Our constitutional mandate is clear: to serve and preserve our spiritual heritage. We are committed to fulfilling the trust placed in us by the Constitution,” she asserted.
