Srinagar, Apr, 04: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President, Omar Abdullah on Thursday urged voters to make their decision based on their satisfaction with the abrogation of Article 370.
Speaking at a party event, the former chief minister said if the people of Jammu and Kashmir support the decision made on August 5, 2019, they should vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and not for the National Conference. However, if they oppose the abrogation of Article 370, Abdullah urged them to support the National Conference candidates.
Omar expressed hope that voters would make informed choices in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of their voices through the ballot.
Regarding campaigning outside the Union Territory, Abdullah clarified that his focus is on the three Kashmir seats for the National Conference.
He also highlighted the National Conference’s efforts to ensure Congress candidates’ victory in Jammu and Udhampur-Kathua seats, with assurance from the Congress of reciprocated support in Kashmir.
Regarding the People’s Democratic Party’s decision to contest in the same constituencies as the National Conference, Abdullah questioned the likelihood of PDP votes transferring to his party.
He pointed to the lack of vote transfer observed in previous elections and underscored the need to examine the District Development Council poll results for insights.
The former CM also raised concerns about the security of his party’s candidates and star campaigners, criticizing the delayed upgrades and suggesting potential administrative bias in providing security.
He vowed to confront such challenges, affirming his party’s resolve to combat both political adversaries and administrative obstacles.
