Srinagar, July 9: Youth Civil Society Kashmir, in collaboration with Handwara Police and the J&K Sports Council, Wednesday organised the ‘Josh-e-Watan’ Volleyball Championship under the banner “My Youth My Pride” at the Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara, in honour of the valiant martyr DySP Shri Humayun Muzammil Bhat.A statement issued here said that a total of 08 volleyball teams from various districts of the Kashmir Valley participated in the championship, which aimed to promote sportsmanship, youth engagement, and to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the brave officer. The event was inaugurated by DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, who praised the enthusiasm of the participating teams and commended the organisers for hosting an event of such emotional and social significance.  The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, who presented trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the winning and runner-up teams. SSP Handwara thanked all the players and participants for their spirited involvement and acknowledged the vital role of civil society and the youth of Handwara in supporting initiatives aimed at the positive development of young minds through sports. He emphasized the importance of keeping alive the memories of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Community members and civil society of Handwara especially youth appreciated the efforts of SSP Handwara for providing them with opportunities to express their talent and skills in the right direction. They expressed hope that police will continue to patronize the sports activities particularly for the younger generations and provide more such platforms which will help to encourage the local talent.
