Srinagar, Nov. 29: A two-day festival will be held in Dal Lake by the first week of December to show visitors the life around Dal Lake.
The event is organized by the tourism department of Kashmir, and several cultural programs will be held during the two-day festival, which will be followed by a water laser show on Dal Lake. The lieutenant governor, Monoj Sinha, is likely to be the chief guest on the occasion and will inaugurate this festival.
Deputy Director of Tourism Dr.Deebah Khalid told Rising Kashmir, “The Kashmir Valley’s distinctive traditional shikaras and their contribution to the promotion of tourism in the valley are the focus of the houseboat festival.” The Kashmiri houseboats unquestionably draw numerous visitors from across the nation. “Dal Lake Shikara cruises are usually very passionate.”
Kashmir has seen an excellent amount of visitors this year and anticipates a similar flow throughout the winter. Kashmir has made the decision to keep the well-known tourist attractions open all year.
The officer stated that the program is organized for the second straight year, and a local band will be performing on occasion. There would be around 15-20 local band performers who would be given a platform to showcase their talents on this special occasion.
The visitors will also be informed about the history of houseboats, and there will be local food stalls available that will sell Kashmiri harissa, barbeque, and several other foods.
There will also be a shikhara ride for those who are participating in the event,  during this ride, they will be shown the floating market on Dal Lake and several other things.
At the beginning of December, this place remains quiet, and fewer tourists visit the Dal Lake, however, organizing such events will boost tourism in the Kashmir Valley at this famous location during the month of December.
“In winter, tourists prefer to visit the valley to enjoy snowfall; however, the department is trying every angle to give them better enjoyment.” The department is organizing a rock climbing competition in Srinagar to give adventure experiences to adventure lovers.
It is to be noted here that last year, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah” inaugurated a houseboat festival organized by J&K’s tourism department at the Dal Lake.
Shah witnessed a musical fountain and laser show in Srinagar and called it “a mesmerizing experience.”
