Srinagar, Apr 02: Families that were affected by a fire occurred in the Nowpora area of Srinagar late Sunday on March 24th, leading to the loss of four residential properties are seeking assistance from the public and calling on the government to offer aid.
While speaking with Rising Kashmir, Majid Mir,a member of one of the victim families expressed that the devastation resulted in the loss of valuable possessions, including money, gold, and clothing. The family, now left with little more than ashes and charred remains, has appealed to authorities for assistance in their time of need.
“Although initial promises of support were made by various officials, we have only received two cheques of Rs 5000 each from the Red Cross Society and other authorities such as the tehsildar and pathwari, while they expressed willingness to assist us, no further help has materialized, leaving uncertainty regarding future aid, Majid said.
He said that following the incident, numerous individuals, including community leaders visited the site and pledged assistance. However, as of now, there has been no visible progress or action taken.
The families impacted by the fire are asking the people of Kashmir for assistance and urging the government to provide help.
With Eid approaching in just eight days, the urgency of their situation is clear, emphasizing the need for immediate support.
