SMC celebrates IYD with enthusiasm

Srinagar, June 21: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation Saturday commemorated International Yoga Day (IYD) with great zeal and enthusiasm at SK Park, emphasizing the importance of health, mental well-being, and holistic living.

The event was gracefully led by Faz Lul Haseeb, along with Joint Commissioner (Administration) Nuzhat K Qurash, whose inspiring leadership added vigour to the celebration.Recognized globally each year on June 21 IYD highlights the transformative benefits of yoga in enhancing physical vitality, mental tranquillity and spiritual harmony. The occasion featured captivating demonstrations of various yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, aimed at encouraging citizens to incorporate these practices into their daily routines for a healthier and more balanced life.The Srinagar Municipal Corporation remains committed to promoting wellness initiatives that empower citizens to achieve harmony of body, mind, and spirit. The event was attended by senior officials of the Corporation and a diverse group of participants, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm for a healthier and more mindful lifestyle.

JKSPYM brings together Sarpanchs, Panchs, Youth

Jammu, June 21: J&K Society for the Promotion of Youth and Masses (JKSPYM) celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm at its centre bringing together sarpanchs, panchs, youth, villagers and JKSPYM staff to promote holistic health and well-being through yoga.

The event featured a guided yoga session led by an experienced instructor, during which participants performed a variety of yoga asanas including Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and Shavasana (Corpse Pose). The session also included Pranayama techniques such as AnulomVilom and Bhramari, focusing on breath control and inner calm.Special emphasis was placed on how these yoga practices can aid in managing stress, anxiety, and substance dependency, aligning with JKSPYM’s mission under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

JKAP-8th Bn pledges to focus on physical, mental wellbeing

Jammu, June 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police 8th Battalion celebrated the international Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and commitment at Miran Sahib Jammu, reinforcing its focus on the physical and mental wellbeing of its Jawans and officers.

The event was led by Suram Singh(SSP) the commandant of the unit who underscored the importance of Yoga in ensuring physical endurance, mental resilience and spiritual harmony among the Jawans and officers. He further stated that the main idea behind celebrating International Yoga Day is to spread mass awareness about the countless benefits of Yoga through a global platform. Yoga is much more than a wellness approach, it relaxes the mind, strengthens the body and helps the individual to nurture a heightened sense of self-awareness.He further added that the day is now celebrated in over 190 countries, emphasising yoga’s universal relevance as a tool for well-being, peace, and unity. It highlights not just physical postures (asanas), but also breath control (pranayama), meditation (dhyana) and ethical living

GGM Science College marks day with enthusiasm, spirit

Jammu, June 21:Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu,celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and fervour, reflecting a strongcommitment to health, mindfulness and national well-being. The event was organised under theoverall guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College and witnessedthe gracious presence of Prof. K. S. Chandrashekar, Chancellor, Cluster Universityof Jammu, as the Chief Guest.

The celebration brought together, various Deans of ClUJ,students, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and NCC cadets who actively participated inembracing yoga as a powerful tool for physical fitness, mental harmony, and spiritual well-being.The college campus resonated with an atmosphere of tranquillity and collective energy, asparticipants united in the pursuit of holistic health.

The highlight of the programme was a special yoga session conducted by renowned yogainstructor Ms. Shivali Verma, who led a well-structured and deeply engaging session. She beganwith an enlightening discourse on the modern-day relevance and philosophical essence of yoga.

Participants performed fundamental asanas like Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana,Trikonasana, and Paschimottanasana. The session also included calming breathing techniquessuch as Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama, known for promoting respiratory health andemotional stability.The event concluded on a note of rejuvenation and collective resolve to adopt yoga as a regularpart of life. DPS Sgrcommemorates day with collective spirit, harmony

Srinagar, June 21: Delhi Public School Srinagar Saturday marked International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and collective spirit. The event, held on the school grounds, aligned with this year’s global theme – “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” – underscoring the deep connection between personal well-being, societal harmony, and the health of our planet.

A vibrant gathering of 950 students, 100 dedicated teachers, and 10 community members marked the Yoga Day celebrations. Under the guidance of trained instructors, the participants performed a series of yoga asanas and breathing exercises designed to enhance the physical flexibility, sharpening mental clarity, and fostering emotional resilience.The objective of the celebration was to raise awareness about the diverse and far-reaching benefits of yoga, especially for the younger generation. Through this initiative, the school aimed to inspire students to embrace yoga as a regular practice for achieving holistic health and inner harmony.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Shafaq Afshan said, “Yoga is a powerful tool for achieving balance and harmony in life. We’re thrilled to see our students embracing this practice with enthusiasm.””Personal well-being and planetary health go hand in hand. As we nurture inner balance through yoga, we take a step toward creating a more peaceful, harmonious, and sustainable world,” said the Chairman of Delhi Public School Srinagar, Vijay Dhar.The session concluded on a refreshing and uplifting note, with students expressing keen interest in continuing yoga as a part of their daily routine. Vibrant display of health, harmony, holistic wellness at NIT Sgr

Srinagar, June 21: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Saturday celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with great zeal and enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a vibrant display of health, harmony and holistic wellness.

The event was graced by the presence of Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kanojia; In-charge Registrar Prof. Atikur Rahman; Dr. Yashwant Mehta, Dean Planning and Development and Head of Yoga Centre, Lt. Dr. Nitika Kundan, ANO NCC Unit, Dr. Jitendra Gujjar, NSS Officer, Dr. Ashok Kumar, In-charge EBSB Cell and Dr. Manoj Kumar, in-charge Sports Club, along with several faculty members and staff.

Addressing the gathering, Director Prof. Binod Kanojia described yoga as a transformative practice that enhances physical well-being, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.“Yoga is not just an exercise, it is a way of life. Embracing it as a lifelong habit can help us achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle,” he said, urging everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines.The main celebration was held at the Common Hall from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM, where over 300 participants—including faculty, staff, students, NCC and NSS cadets, and PhD scholars—performed various yoga asanas with enthusiasm and focus. The session opened with an introduction to the significance of International Yoga Day, emphasizing the benefits of yoga for the body and mind. In his remarks, In-charge Registrar Prof. Atikur Rahman said, “today, as India leads the world in celebrating the 11th edition of this remarkable initiative, NIT Srinagar is proud to be part of the global movement Yoga Sangam.”

To recognize their dedication and commitment, certificates of participation were awarded to all students who completed the workshop. The gesture was aimed at encouraging continued engagement with health and wellness practices.The International Day of Yoga event and the workshop were sponsored by NavyogaSuryodaya Sewa Samiti, NIT Srinagar and the NCC Unit, significantly enhancing their outreach and impact.

KU witnesses with enthusiastic participation on IYD

Srinagar, June 21: To mark International Day of Yoga 2025, the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW), University of Kashmir (KU), in collaboration with the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) organised a vibrant yoga session under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” on the university’s athletic track at sports ground Saturday, under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

It began with the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11th consecutive International Day of Yoga address to the nation, following which the yoga session commenced under the morning sun in the scenic campus setting. The session was synchronised with over one lakh locations across the country as part of the nationwide ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative’ which promotes collective participation and harmony. Participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), designed by the Ministry of AYUSH to ensure a standardised and holistic yoga experience across all centres.The atmosphere was filled with energy, mindfulness, and collective spirit as more than 1,500 participants joined the session at the university sports grounds. These included senior university officers, faculty members, non-teaching staff, NSS KU volunteers, students from the main and satellite campuses including North and South Campus, students from KU hostels, representatives from RRIUM, and students from nearby schools.The proceedings of the event were conducted by Cultural Officer DSW KU, Dr Shahid Ali Khan. The successful observance of International Day of Yoga at KU served as a reminder of the varsity’s active role in promoting physical fitness, emotional balance, and community wellness, in alignment with the objectives of NEP 2020 and national health campaigns.

CBC hosts awareness programme at GBHSS Batamaloo on IYD

Srinagar, June 21: As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, the Field Office Srinagar of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Saturday organised an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS), Batamaloo.

Held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the event aimed to promote awareness among students about the importance of leading a balanced, healthy lifestyle through the ancient discipline of yoga.The programme featured live demonstrations by expert instructors, who guided students through foundational asanas and breathing techniques, highlighting yoga’s role in enhancing both physical and mental well-being.Naseer Ahmad Rather, Field Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, emphasised the timeless relevance of yoga, calling it “a powerful tool for uniting the mind, body, and soul.” He encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily habit and reiterated CBC’s commitment to spreading awareness about key government initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir.

Shabir Dar, Assistant Director News, Doordarshan Srinagar, also addressed the gathering, urging students to become ambassadors of healthy living. “In today’s digital and sedentary world, physical fitness is more important than ever. A sound mind can only reside in a sound body,” he stated.Showkat Hussain, Principal of GBHSS Batamaloo, expressed gratitude to CBC for organising the event, noting its significance in instilling values of discipline, unity, and wellness in the youth. He underscored the importance of healthy habits for academic success and personal development.
