Udhampur, Aug 23: In accordance with the directions of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, a Special Lok Adalat was organized across the courts of Udhampur District focusing on traffic challans and civil cases.The event was held under the chairmanship of Virinder Singh Bhou, Principal District & Sessions Judge, and under the overall supervision of Dr Smriti Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Nine benches were constituted within the district for this purpose.The primary aim of the Special Lok Adalat organized by DLSA Udhampur was to facilitate amicable settlements between parties involved in disputes, thereby reducing the burden on regular courts and expediting the resolution process. A total of 351 cases were taken up during the proceedings, out of which 298 cases were successfully settled, resulting in a settlement amount of Rs 1,03,700.
