Two weeklong FDP on thermal characterisation concludes at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 27: A two-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Thermal Characterization and Advanced Measurement Techniques” concluded on Monday at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The FDP was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Training and Learning Academy, New Delhi.
The valedictory function was presided over by Incharge-Director NIT Srinagar, Dean (R&C) Prof. M.F. Wani and Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari were ‘Guest of Honor’ on the occasion.
The 14 daylong event was held in hybrid mode from 13-18th March and followed by offline sessions from 20-24th March that were held at NIT Srinagar.
Addressing the valedictory function, Prof. Wani said FDP’s were designed to provide participants with exposure to the latest developments in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Prof. Wani said the prime focus of the FDP was to introduce the faculty members to various advanced techniques available for experimentation in the field of thermal-fluid sciences.
“NIT is committed to serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and imparting skills through FDPs, workshops, skill development programs, etc. and will continue in future also,” he said.
In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal congratulated the organizing committee for organizing the FDP’s on relevant topics, especially Head MED Prof. Adnan Qayoum.
“These FDP’s aimed to groom faculty to make innovative strides and reforms in teaching-learning environments. Mentoring of faculty will go a long way in achieving institutional and organizational goals,” he said.
Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Bukhari said FDPs are a crucial aspect of academic growth, ensuring the teachers have the latest knowledge and techniques to impart to our students.
“FDP’s are a great way to stay current, learn new skills, and connect with other professionals in your field. They are an essential aspect of academic growth and should be taken advantage of whenever possible,” he said.
Prof. Bukhari said such FDPs help faculty members develop new and effective teaching strategies that can improve student learning outcomes.  It helps them to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in their respective fields.
Head MED, Prof. Adnan Qayoum said the FDP was designed to provide participants with exposure to the latest developments in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Prof. Adnan said the offline sessions were delivered by the expert faculty of NIT Srinagar, KU, IUST, IIT Roorkee, NIT Roorkee, and TSI India Ltd.
“The sessions were exhaustive and comprehensive, covering various aspects of Mechanical Engineering such as state-of-the-art techniques involving measurement, automation, and real-world issues,” he said.
