Large cache of war-like stores recovered, search Ops to continue

Srinagar, July 30: Two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) were gunned down by security forces during a joint anti-infiltration operation in the Poonch sector of Jammu region in the early hours of Wednesday, officials said.The operation, named “Operation ShivShakti,” was launched based on precise intelligence inputs from the Indian Army’s intelligence units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).According to the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, alert troops engaged the infiltrators with accurate firepower, thwarting their nefarious designs.In the X post, White Knight corps posted, “#OPERATION SHIVSHAKTI – In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the Indian Army eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered. Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from own intelligence units and #JKP led to a successful operation. Briefing about the operation, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, Spokesperson ,Ministry of Defence, Jammu said in a coordinated counter-terrorism operation, troops of Indian Army launched ‘Operation ShivShakti’ in the Poonch Sector during early hours of 30 Jul 25.”The operation was based on credible intelligence inputs acquired by synergistic and synchronised intelligence coordination by military and civil intelligence units in concert with J&K Police regarding the presence of terrorists in the area,” he said.Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that acting swiftly on the inputs, the security forces laid coordinated ambushes on the appreciated infiltration routes. “A fierce gunfight ensued between the security forces and terrorists along the LoC in the early morning hours of 30 Jul 25, leading to the neutralisation of two terrorists and recovery of large quantities of war-like stores,” he said.The Defence spokesman further said that  swift, coordinated and decisive action by security forces prevented any collateral damage and ensured the safety of the local population.”The recovered war-like stores include two assault rifles with ammunition, one pistol with ammunition, hand grenades, two Improvised explosive devices, medicines, communication device and other logistic stores. The huge recovery of war-like & logistic stores indicate that the terrorists were well-prepared for prolonged engagement,” he said.Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that this operation highlights high level of synergy, coordination and commitment on part of Indian Army and other security agencies towards maintaining peace and security in the region”Op ShivShakti is a major setback to nefarious designs of Pakistan sponsored terrorist organisations that are constantly abetting acts of terror in Jammu & Kashmir region. Search operation is in progress in the surrounding areas to rule out the presence of any more terrorists in the area,” he added.Earlier on Monday, three terrorists were neutralised in an intense firefight with security forces in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park of Srinagar.The operation, Mahadev, took place in the general area of Lidwas, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said.On Tuesday, during the Lok Sabha session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also confirmed that three terrorists who were involved in the killing of civilians were eliminated by the security forces during Operation Mahadev.Shah said this as he began his address in Lok Sabha amid the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor and informed that those who killed our citizens in the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack have been killed.
