Srinagar, Aug 28: HADP Project No. 13, titled “Adoption and Promotion of Integrated Farming System (IFS)/Integrated Livelihood Systems (ILS) in UT of Jammu and Kashmir, successfully organised and concluded a three-days capacity building training programme on “Integrated Farming System: An approach towards doubling farmers’ income” from August 26–28, 2025 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K).According to a statement issued here, the programme aimed at enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills on integrated farming practices, with a focus on improving farm productivity, profitability, and resource use efficiency for sustainable livelihoods. A total of 30 farmers from the Rohama cluster of block Watergam Sopore actively participated in the training. During the programme, experts and faculty members of SKUAST-K conducted interactive lectures, technical sessions, and practical demonstrations on a wide range of themes including crop diversification strategies, integrated nutrient and pest management, protected cultivation for round-the-year production, high-density orchard-based IFS models, livestock and fisheries integration, mushroom cultivation, and the role of apiculture in income diversification. Dr. A. A. Saad, Professor of Agronomy, delivered the welcome address. The valedictory function was graced by Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Mir, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura as Chief Guest. He highlighted the significance of integrated farming systems in ensuring better utilization of farm resources, reducing risks, generating rural employment, and achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ income.
