Budgam, Dec 04: To mitigate traffic violations and reduce road accidents, the traffic police from Rural Kashmir have seized eight vehicles, suspended four driving licenses, and issued 380 challans across various locations in the Beerwah sub-division of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
The Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police for Budgam informed Rising Kashmir that a traffic enforcement operation was carried out in different areas of the Beerwah sub-division, including Khag, Beerwah, and Magam.
“During this operation, eight vehicles were seized, four driving licenses were suspended via the E-challan system, and 380 challans were issued in a single day across various locations,” he said.
The DSP Traffic said that awareness camps were organized in Khag, Aripathan, Beerwah, and Magam. These camps aimed to educate the public and drivers about traffic regulations, emphasizing the prohibition of allowing minors to operate any vehicle or scooter, which constitutes a violation of traffic laws.
“The traffic police department will persist in conducting such operations to decrease traffic violations and road accidents in the Kashmir valley,” he added.
The DSP Traffic noted that the residents of the Beerwah sub-division have responded positively to the enforcement drive and awareness program conducted in various locations.
