Traffic Police urges commuters to adhere to cut-off timings & safety norms amid SANJY

Srinagar, July 15:  The Traffic Police Headquarters has issued a detailed advisory for July 16 outlining regulated vehicular movement across the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other strategic routes in view of ongoing road maintenance, Amarnath Yatra 2025 and safety concerns in landslide-prone areas.A statement issued here said that subject to fair weather and road conditions–Jammu–Srinagar national highway, SANJY Convoy / LMVs / Private Cars are allowed from both sides (Jammu to Srinagar). “HMVs to ply on alternate days. TCU Jammu-Srinagar to coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing traffic,” the advisory reads. “Cut-Off Timings for LMVs / Passenger / Private Vehicles–Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600 hrs to 1200 hrs, Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs, Qazigund to Jammu: 1130 hrs to 1400 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed before or after these cut-off timings. HMVs / Load Carriers–subject to weather and road status, HMVs will be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar after assessment.”

The advisory reads that no HMV shall be allowed after 1900 hrs. “TCU Udhampur will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing traffic,” it said. Special Route Directive during Amarnath Yatra 2025: As per Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s Advisory. “All tankers (Petrol/Diesel/LPG), empty LPG cylinder trucks, empty FCI vehicles, and vehicles up to 10 tyres must use Mughal Road for return to Jammu.”As for the other routes that include Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road, LMVs/HPSVs are allowed from both sides–PP Parana to Anantnag: 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs, PP Daksum to Kishtwar: 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs, HMVs (other than designated HPSVs) are not permitted, as per orders issued by SDMs Chhatroo and Kokernag. “Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari (SSG) Road, subject to BRO clearance and fair weather, regulated traffic shall be allowed–Minamarg to Srinagar: 0500 hrs to 1000 hrs, Sonamarg to Kargil: 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs. Security Force convoys to plan travel to avoid disruption to Yatra convoys.For Mughal Road, with clearance from GREF and subject to fair conditions–LMVs/Passenger Cars area allowed from both directions (Jammu to Srinagar via Poonch), HMVs (up to 10 tyres) — allowed Shopian to Poonch only. Movement permitted from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs via Behramgala (Baffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian),” the advisory reads.
