Jammu, Aug 30: All J&K Transport Welfare Association has given a call for ‘Chakka Jam’ on September 1st against the toll collection at Sarore Toll Plaza in the Samba district of Jammu region despite a large portion of Jammu-Pathankot Highway being damaged.
Earlier, the Transport Union had called for ‘Chakka Jam’ on August 31st but it was deferred in view of Raksha Bandhan so that people are not put to any inconvenience.
“We will take out a big rally of 500-700 vehicles from Jammu to Sarore Toll Plaza to lodge our protest against toll collection,” President, All J&K Transport Welfare Association, Vijay Chib told Rising Kashmir, adding, “The Kashmir unit of our Association has also extended its support to our ‘Chakka Jam’ call on September one”.
Earlier, before taking the final call for ‘Chakka Jam’, the members of All J&K Transport Welfare Association held a meeting with the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) and the Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) members seeking their support for the September 1st ‘Chakka Jam’.
The association members will meet the members of Bar Association on Thursday to seek their support.
The Yuva Rajput Sabha spearheaded the agitation against toll collection at Sarore Toll Plaza. Twenty-six (26) members of YRS were also kept under preventive custody. Following this, the CCI had given a Jammu bandh call a few days back which received a very positive response as Jammu region observed almost a complete bandh against toll collection at Sarore Toll Plaza.
