The high –level security meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor ( LG) Manoj Sinha to take stock of the emerging security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir is significant and is meant to tighten the security network in the Union Territory(UT).It is pertinent to mention that this high level meeting has been held after the continuous monitoring of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir by the Home Minister Amit Shah. While chairing a high level meeting the Home Minister had directed the Border Security Force (BSF) to ensure zero infiltration from the International Border(IB) besides he stressed for the strengthening of the border grid and surveillance using the advanced technologies. This meeting was attended by the top security brass that included Union Home Secretary, Director Intelligence Bureau(IB),Director generals of the Central Reserve Force(CRPF) and Border Security Force(BSF).In this meeting the Home Minister directed the CRPF to continue working in sync with the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. He asked the security forces to ensure that there are no gaps in area domination. He was also instructed to keep focus on the heights in Jammu region to abort any infiltration plans. He reviewed the intelligence gathering in this meeting as well. Underlining the importance of the technology for intelligence gathering he stressed to upgrade the same. In order to tighten the noose on the terror modules and their patrons working in Jammu and Kashmir, the Home Minister has directed to focus on monitoring of terror-financing, tightening grip over Narco-terror cases and dismantling entire terror ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir as this is the priority of the Modi government. .He also made it clear that strong steps are being taken for the ‘Zero Terror Plan’ in Jammu and Kashmir. In this meeting the Home Minister has also directed to focus on countering the negative propaganda of the anti-national elements to defeat the fissiparous tendencies working to subvert the social harmony. In this connection he has said that resources will be made available to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Last week, Home Minister Amit Shah had chaired a security review meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha including the senior officials and appraised that due to the tireless efforts of the Narendra Modi government, the terrorist ecosystem is being thwarted in Jammu and Kashmir. Keeping in view these developments the high level security meeting chaired by the LG Manoj Sinha assumes much significance. This meeting was attended by the top security brass. He has asked the security forces to work in close coordination. Emphasising the need to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the LG has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu & Kashmir is witnessing an era of peace, progress and prosperity. He expressed complete faith in the valour of the security forces to ensure effective, focused measures and better institutional arrangements to make Jammu Kashmir terror-free. He also stressed the need for the Improved intelligence generation, coordination and precision in anti-terror operations to meet the vital future security challenges. There is a need for an updated and comprehensive security grid in Jammu and Kashmir to pre-empt the terror operators working to inject terror. On Tuesday an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast took the lives of a Captain and two soldiers on the LOC in Akhnoor in Jammu. These incidents demand that there is a need for proactive strategy to save the innocent lives and provide upper hand to the security forces in dealing with the terror machinery operative in Jammu and Kashmir.
