Srinagar, March 20: In a solemn ceremony commemorating Martyrs’ Day, the 10th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Batamaloo, Srinagar, Thursday paid tributes to Reyaj Ahmad Gojar Khatana, a courageous jawan who laid down his life on March 20, 2019 during cross-border firing in Kundali Barjala Jabda, Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The event was attended by officers and jawans of the 10th Battalion SSB, along with family members of the fallen soldier. The ceremony commenced with a wreath-laying tribute, where Commandant of the 10th Battalion SSB, Rohitashwa, joined by the martyr’s wife, Rabiya Begum and other grieving family members, paid their respects. A minute of silence was observed, reflecting the nation’s deep gratitude for the soldier’s selfless service. Addressing the gathering, Commandant Rohitashwa reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support for its brave security personnel, acknowledging their dedication to safeguarding borders and maintaining internal security. As a mark of gratitude, the martyr’s family was honoured and presented with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their immense sacrifice. The ceremony concluded with a pledge to uphold the legacy of the nation’s martyrs, ensuring that their sacrifices remain forever etched in the nation’s memory.
