Srinagar, June 05: Department of Physical Education & Sports, Srinagar Women’s College Batpora, Zakura organized “SoonthAav Sports Festival” from 1st to 5th June 2024. Seventeen events were included in the festival in which a total of Twenty-two colleges across Kashmir division participated.
The festival was inaugurated by worthy Pricipal, (Dr) Tehmina Yousuf in presence of Dr. Harbinder Singh, Hockey coach, University of Kashmir. As a goodwill gesture, Principal Madam released a pair of white doves in presence of Dr. Basharat Ali (Assistant Director, Physical Education and Sports, Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yousuf threw light on the importance of sports participation in the holistic development of students. Moreover, worthy principal impressed upon the students to participate enthusiastically in extracurricular activities.
In the five-day long festival, games like Hockey, Volley Ball, Futsal, Tug of War, Leg Cricket, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess were played. In addition to these games throwing and jumping events were also included. The festival culminated on 5th of June 2024. Principal, Govt. Degree College, Shopian, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Shafiq also attended the function. Medals and Mementos were distributed among winners and runners up of all the events.
Govt. College of Physical Education, Ganderbal emerged as overall winners and Govt. Degree College Shopian as overall Runners Up. Prof. Rafiq Ahmad held the proceedings of the valedictory and Prof. Salfi Muzaffar presented the vote of thanks.
