Srinagar, Sep 06: The two-day District Srinagar Rugby 7’s Championship concluded with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit at the Synthetic Rugby Field, Polo Ground Srinagar. The championship was organised by the Srinagar Rugby Association in collaboration with the J&K Rugby Association and proudly sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
As per a statement issued here, the tournament witnessed the participation of 16 competitive teams across different categories, showcasing skill, teamwork and the rising passion for rugby in the district.
Senior Women’s category (BOX)
Srinagar Pink emerges as the champions, securing the Gold Medal.
Srinagar Oranges claim Silver.
Srinagar Panthers bag Bronze.
Senior Men’s category
Srinagar Lions storm to victory with the Gold Medal.
Srinagar Blue take home Silver.
Srinagar Greens finish strong with the Bronze.
The closing ceremony was graced by Irfan Aziz, who attended as the Chief Guest and distributed medals and trophies among the winners. In his address, Aziz highlighted the importance of rugby as a dynamic contact sport, emphasising how it instils values of discipline, teamwork, endurance, and resilience among youth. The successful completion of the championship reflects the growing popularity of rugby in Srinagar and the commitment of organisers, players, and stakeholders to nurture this exciting sport at the grassroots level.
