Srinagar police books both accused in Bagh-e-Mehtab prostitution racket under PSA

Srinagar, April 8: Days after police unearthed a prostitution gang in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area of the city, the Srinagar police on Saturday informed that both the main accused have been booked under stringent Public Safety Act.
Police said in a tweet that “both the main accused in the Chanapura sex scandal case were booked under PSA as well.” They are Mohd Shafi Hajam, son of Abdul KaliqHajam, R/O Rahimabad Pulwama and Arshad Ahmad Bhat, S/O Mohd Shaban, R/O Pampore, Pulwama.
Police have arrested two persons for allegedly running the flesh trade from a rented accommodation in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar on Monday, they said.
Earlier, police booked the house owner where the prostitution racket was busted; he was booked under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
According to police “Owner of the house used for immoral activities, namely: Altaf Hussain Afaki S/o Asadullah Afaki R/o Chanapora, arrested under Section 3 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act (1956) Proceedings started for the formal attachment and sealing of the house as per Section 18 of the ITPA.
