New Delhi, Dec 29: Senior Advocate Ashok Bhan has been awarded a prominent citizen award by Minister of Higher Education, Mool Chand Sharma at a function organised by Kashmir Peace Keepers (KPL) in NCR region.
The award was given to Bhan in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the society and his commitment to the values of the Kashmiri Pandit community, inspiring generations and enriching the cultural heritage.
Bhan is among the senior most advocates at the Supreme Court of India and has handled high-profile cases across the country. He worked in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and was one of the prominent advocates till 1988.
Following the turmoil in the Valley, Bhan migrated to New Delhi and started practicing in the Supreme Court of India. After migrating from Valley to New Delhi, Bhan had to struggle for attaining professional excellence-that is being recognized by bar and the benches and by various social and think tank forums.
From 1989 to till date, Bhan has been continuously handling matters of great importance, high-profile cases, and other matters.
Bhan who worked as a special senior advocate for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and argued against YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case is now arguing on behalf of Amaravati farmers.
He successfully argued for CBI in a disproportionate assets case and pitched against the likes of Harish Salve, Mukul Rohatgi, Gopal Subramanyam, and Ram Jethmalani. Shanti Bhushan, & other eminent lawyers of the Country.
Bhan started his engagement with CBI in Bofors case in the nineties and argued highly sensitive matters namely the Chandraswami case, Kethan Parikh hawala matter, Yaderappa’s corruption case, Mining scandal etc. in various high courts and in Supreme Court.
Bhan is also chairman of Kashmir (Policy & Strategy) Group and has also represented corporate houses and many civil matters and many arbitrations.
