Leh, Jan 29: Solar Home Lighting systems have been successfully installed in the unconnected villages and mohallas of the Leh district of Ladakh.
An official told Rising Kashmir that Solar Home Lighting systems have been successfully installed at Zingchen (Lingshed), Dongbolas (Waris), Lagabag (Koyul), and Gonglong Raku Hanley areas respectively.
The project was sanctioned under the District CAPEX budget and was executed by Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA), Leh, he said.
Solar Home Lighting system has been designed for use in areas having heavy load shedding or areas where there are frequent power shutdown problems. The system configuration is flexible and one can select the number of lights and fans as per their requirements.
The system uses LED lights of 7W for room illumination. These lights can be multiplied as per their requirement. The fan is a 12 Volt DC-operated fan and is sufficient for 4 -5 people. The 12-inch diameter fan has a swing feature that covers almost a 160-degree area. The backup of the system depends on the battery capacity used.
Meanwhile, Chairman and CEC, Adv Tashi Gyalson while congratulating the residents on the electrification said the Hill Council Leh is committed to providing basic necessities to the uncovered regions.
