Katra, March 2: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Sunday organised a two-day International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research for a Sustainable Future (ICMRSF-2025). The prestigious event brought together renowned researchers, academicians, and industry experts to deliberate on groundbreaking advancements in tackling global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequalities.
The conference was formally inaugurated by Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, alongside Prof. Anil Koul, Acting Vice-Chancellor, IIPH Hyderabad, Prof. Anuj Kumar, Head of Research, Rushford Business School, Switzerland, Shruti Khanna, Assistant Director, JKSTIC, Prof. R.K. Mishra, Dean Student Welfare, SMVDU, and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU. Delivering the inaugural address, Prof. Pragati Kumar emphasised the crucial role of such conferences in enhancing research aptitude and fostering innovation. “This conference provides a vital platform to explore cutting-edge developments in science and technology while inspiring young minds to devise solutions for grassroots challenges,” he remarked. Dr. Ankush Raina, Chairperson, BPA, SMVDU, outlined the conference structure, highlighting keynote and invited lectures by eminent experts from various disciplines. The scientific sessions have been organised into multiple thematic areas, ensuring a diverse and insightful exchange of knowledge. With four distinguished invited speakers from across the globe and over 100 participants from India, the conference facilitates valuable discussions through oral and online presentations. Dr. Sakshi Arora, Associate Professor, SoCSE, provided an in-depth overview of the conference themes and sessions, while Dr. Isha Malhotra, Assistant Professor, SoLL, SMVDU, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to the event’s success. The ICMRSF-2025 reaffirms SMVDU’s commitment to fostering multidisciplinary research and innovation, promoting sustainable development, and addressing contemporary global challenges.
Workshop on advanced adhesives, waterproofing technologies held at SMVDU
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, Sunday hosted a workshop on Advanced and Innovative Adhesives, Waterproofing, and Coating Technologies under the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at the School of Architecture and Landscape Design. The event aimed to equip students and professionals with insights into cutting-edge construction materials and techniques, focusing on sustainable and high-performance adhesive solutions.
The workshop featured two sessions—morning and afternoon—led by distinguished industry experts, who shared their expertise on modern construction practices. The event commenced with a welcome address by Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Head of the School of Architecture and Landscape Design, SMVDU, followed by the introduction of resource persons by Ar. Aditi Sharma. In the morning session, Gourav Choudhary, Plant Manager, delivered an insightful talk on “Tile Fixing Adhesives and Ready Plaster for Walls and Roofs.” This was followed by Virinder Khosla from Permafixer Corporation, who presented on “Sustainability in House Construction.” A key highlight of the session was a hands-on workshop and live demonstration on Tile Fixing Adhesive Application, where participants gained practical exposure to modern adhesive technologies.
The afternoon session featured a lecture on “Advanced Adhesive Technologies in Construction” by Jeewan Joshi, Senior Training Technical Manager (North), Pidilite Industries Ltd. Following this, Mr. Navneet Mishra, Manager at Pidilite Industries Ltd., spoke about “Innovative Pidilite Solutions for Modern Construction.” The session concluded with an interactive live demonstration of Pidilite products, showcasing their applications and benefits in real-world construction scenarios.
The workshop provided an enriching experience for participants, offering practical knowledge of innovative construction materials and sustainable building practices. The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at SMVDU continues to foster industry-academia collaborations, ensuring students remain at the forefront of emerging trends in architecture and construction technology.
