Jammu, Aug 24: Dr. Ankush Raina, faculty member at the School of Mechanical Engineering, presented a research paper on “3D Printing and Tribology” at the sixth Malaysian International Tribology Conference (MyTribos 2025) held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, Malaysia. As per a statement issued here, the MyTribos, a conference series organized by the Malaysian Tribology Society affiliated to International Tribology Council is recognised worldwide as a platform for advancing knowledge in tribology and its applications in industries. The 2025 edition witnessed participation from leading researchers, academicians, and industrial experts worldwide.In his presentation, Dr. Raina showcased the ongoing research of the group working at SMVDU on integrating additive manufacturing (3D printing) with tribological studies. The presentation included the joint work done by Danish Langeh, Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq and Dr. Ankush Raina. The research explores the design and fabrication of functional components using polymer and composite materials, while analysing their wear resistance, surface interactions, and performance under real world operating conditions. The research holds promise for lightweight engineering applications, sustainable manufacturing practices, and development of customized solutions in automotive and biomedical sectors. Dr. Raina acknowledged the support and encouragement provided by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in pursuing international collaborations and high impact research. He expressed gratitude towards the institution’s research ecosystem that promotes innovation and interdisciplinary research. Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, congratulated Dr. Raina for bringing international recognition to the University through his research contribution and presentation at a global platform. Prof. Pragati Kumar, emphasized that achievements like these reflect the University’s growing emphasis on cutting edge research, global outreach and academic excellence.
