Srinagar, Feb 11: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday asked the people living on the banks of Dhood Ganga Nallah to remove their encroachments within seven days.
It also warned them that if they do not vacate within the specified time frame, the SMC would remove encroachments at the risk and cost of the offenders and encroachers.
A public notice issued by Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan reads, “Dhood Ganga Nallah from Alochi Bagh to Chatabal is an important channel for the management of storm water and for preventing urban flooding in Srinagar City.”
He stated that the rejuvenation and restoration of Dhood Ganga Nallah from Alochi Bagh to Chatabal has been undertaken by Srinagar Smart City Limited, with Drainage Circle (civil), while SMC serves as the executing agency.
“All such individuals and encroachers are now given seven days from the issuance of this notice to remove all encroachments and illegal structures erected on and along the Nallah, failing which SMC shall initiate action, including removal of these encroachments, at the risk and cost of the offenders and encroachers,” reads the notice.
