SKUAST-K researchers selected for Erasmus+ mobility programme 2024

Srinagar, Apr 21:Three SKUAST-K researchers including two Faculty members and one PhD student have been selected for Erasmus+ mobility programme at the University of Padova, Italy.
Under the programme, two faculty members Dr Sajad Majeed Zargar and Dr Parvaze Ahmad Sofi and one PhD student from the SKUAST-K’s Division of Vegetable Science Ms Tamana Khan will undergo advanced training in the area of plant proteomics and metabolomics.
The programme is a joint student and staff mobility between SKUAST-Kashmir and the University of Padova, Italy under Erasmus+ programme. The student Ms Tamana Khan currently pursuing PhD Biotechnology at Division of Plant Biotechnology, Shalimar will spend four months at the University of Padova, Italy.
Dr Sajad Majeed Zargar, Assistant Professor at the Division of Plant Biotechnology is the Coordinator of the Erasmus+ programme under which faculty and students attend the University of Padova, Italy for advanced capacity building in the areas of proteomics/ metabolomics. Under this programme, three faculty members and three students have already undergone training at the University of Padova Italy.
The selection of candidates is done by a joint selection committee from both institutions. Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, complimented Head Division of Plant Biotechnology Prof. M A Bhat and the coordinator of the programme, Dr Sajad Majeed Zargar, for this collaborative initiative that improves the international outlook of the university and helps students benefit from global learning and innovation ecosystems. Pertinent to mention that the joint collaborative research under the Erasmus+ programme has led to tangible scholarly output including several high impact publications.
