Srinagar, Aug 24: A PhD scholar from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir has won the first prize at a. National level conception held at Hyderabad, Telangana.According to a statement issued here, Tamana Latief, a student of the Division of Fisheries Resource Management (FRM), Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K, has secured the 1st prize in the Aqua Sector essay competition organised under the Students’ Program of the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association (CLFMA) of India at the national level. Her essay, titled “Utilisation of Fish Processing Waste in Aquafeed – A Waste to Wealth Strategy,” highlighted the potential of fish waste as a cost-effective and eco-friendly nutrient source for aquaculture, while also offering insights for feed industries and farming communities.She was awarded during the 66th National Symposium of CLFMA, held on 22nd August 2025 at Hotel Taj Deccan, Hyderabad, where she received a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of Rs1 lakh.Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Dean Faculty of Fisheries, Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof Sajad Ahmad Gangoo, along with scientists of the Faculty and her supervisor, congratulated Tamana on this remarkable achievement. Expressing her happiness about winning the prize, Tamana thanked her guide and Dean for their constant support and guidance.
