SKIMS Soura issues disaster preparedness guidelines

Srinagar, Aug 28: In view of prevailing inclement weather conditions, the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has issued detailed directives to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure uninterrupted medical services.As per an order, the Medical Superintendent has been tasked with preparing a proper roster of paramedical staff to ensure their availability at all times.The Security Officer will remain on duty round-the-clock in the Disaster Control Room to maintain smooth regulation of movement and security arrangements.Engineering staff, including civil, electrical, mechanical, and IT personnel, have been instructed to remain available in the Disaster Control Room to respond to any emergency promptly.The Medical Supplies Section has been directed to maintain adequate stocks of essential drugs and consumables at all times.Additionally, the Transport in-charge has been asked to ensure the availability of vehicles and transport staff on a 24/7 basis. The Head of the Department of Community Medicine, along with designated staff, will also remain on standby for coordination and response activities.All concerned personnel have been urged to strictly comply with these instructions to ensure smooth functioning of essential services during adverse weather conditions.The proactive measures by SKIMS aim to enhance the hospital’s readiness for any emergency, ensuring that critical healthcare services remain uninterrupted even amid extreme weather events.
