Srinagar, Aug 23: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has nominated senior doctors to begin high-end healthcare services and strengthen health services at seven newly established Govt. Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Jammu and Kashmir.In an order, SKIMS stated that faculty from different departments will operationalize high-end services in the newly established GMCs to ensure equitable access to specialized care and reduce the referral burden currently handled by SKIMS Soura.The GMCs that will be covered under this initiative include GMC Handwara, GMC Baramulla, GMC Doda, GMC Rajouri, GMC Anantnag, GMC Kathua and GMC Udhampur.The move, as per officials, is a part of the initiation of tertiary care services at the new GMCs.
Senior doctors have been nominated across critical service networks, including intensive care, emergency and trauma, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, oncology, nephrology and dialysis, radiology, and laboratory services.The order said that the deputation of above Faculty Members will be issued on rotational basis by the concerned Establishment Section from time to time.The faculty members have been tasked with multiple responsibilities to ensure the smooth initiation and strengthening of high-end healthcare services at newly established GMCs.They will liaise with relevant departments and teams of respective colleges, train staff both at the source and at SKIMS, and closely monitor the progress of services already underway.Additionally, they are tasked with ensuring strict adherence to targeted timelines for operationalization and overseeing the overall functioning of these specialized services in the designated GMCs.The nominated doctors will coordinate with the departmental heads of the respective GMCs to assess resources and carry out strategic planning for the introduction of high-end services.They will also conduct structured inspections and monitoring visits to facilitate the timely commissioning of services and ensure smooth implementation. Furthermore, the doctors are required to submit regular progress reports to SKIMS for review and to support future planning.
