Srinagar, Apr 10: The vehicular traffic on the 270-kilometer Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was suspended for more than two hours on Monday owing to firing stones near RampariBanihal, officials stated.
Mohita Sharma, SSP Ramban and SSP National Highway, stated that vehicular traffic was halted for 2 hours and 33 minutes owing to shooting stones along the highway at Rampari.
“Huge boulders rolled down at Chamalwas, Banihal, immobilising traffic on both sides.” “The roadway was reopened in the afternoon after many hours,” she stated.
The vehicular traffic movement on 270 Kilometer Srinagar Jammu National Highway remained suspended for more than 2 hours on Monday due to shooting stones at RampariBanihal, officials said.
SSP Ramban and SSP National Highway, Mohita Sharma said that vehicular traffic remained suspended for 2 hours and 33 minutes due to shooting stones at Rampari along the highway.
“Huge boulders rolled down at Chamalwas, Banihal halting traffic from both sides. After several hours highway was reopened in the afternoon,” she said.
A traffic police spokesman said that subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMVs Passenger and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“TCU Jammu, Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” it said
“While as HMVs shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs,” reads the advisory.
Amid the forecast for mainly dry weather in next 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded a rise at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Aadil Maqbool an independent Weather Forecaster told Rising Kashmir said that there is no large change expected and dry weather is expected till April 16. Generally, a cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain was likely for three days thereafter, he said.
Pulwama was recorded hottest place in Kashmir valley at 28.1°C. Srinagar city recorded Monday a maximum temperature of 24.7°C. Pahalgam, Kokarnag, and Gulmarg recorded maximum temperatures of 20.8°C, 22.7°C & 14.0°C respectively.
“Day temperature will rise significantly across Jammu and Kashmir during next couple of days. No active weather system is expected till mid April,” Aadil said.
