Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K demands rollback of toll hike

Jammu, June 03: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) has strongly objected to the second increase in toll collection within the last five months and has called for an immediate rollback.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni expressed strong disapproval of the recent toll rate hike. “This increase, along with the rise in prices of Amul products, comes just before the results of the Lok Sabha elections, and raises doubts about the government’s intentions and sensitivity towards the public’s struggles,” he said.
“Instead of providing relief to people facing unemployment, inflation, and economic recession, the government continues to burden them with taxes and inflation,” Sahni said. He questioned the rationale behind toll collection and its continuous increase, especially when road tax is already collected at the time of vehicle purchase.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader criticised the government for boasting about the development of national highways, claiming that these highways are being built by exploiting the public financially. He voiced strong objections to the increase in prices of Amul products and urged the government to halt these arbitrary hikes.
With the holy Shri Amarnath Yatra set to commence soon, Sahni demanded that toll collection be waived for the pilgrims. Instead of providing such relief, he pointed out that the government is increasing toll charges.
