Srinagar, Mar 27: With deep devotion and spiritual fervor, thousands of worshippers across Kashmir observed Shab-e-Qadr, the revered Night of Power, with night-long prayers and supplications.
The largest congregation was witnessed at Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake, where an overwhelming number of devotees gathered to seek divine blessings.
Every mosque in Kashmir was vibrant with worshippers who spent the night in prayers, reciting the Quran, and seeking forgiveness. Similar spiritual gatherings took place at prominent shrines and mosques, including Makhdoom Sahib, Khanqah-e-Moula, Asar-e-Sharif Janab Sahib Soura, Jamia Masjid Srinagar, and local mosques across towns and villages.
Religious scholars delivered sermons highlighted the significance of the night, urging people to seek mercy, strengthen their faith, and follow the teachings of the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“Shab-e-Qadr is a night of immense blessings. It is an opportunity for us to repent and seek guidance,” said a devotee at Hazratbal Shrine. Another worshipper expressed, “The atmosphere in every mosque was truly divine; it felt as if the entire valley was united in prayer.”
Authorities ensured smooth arrangements for the occasion, managing the heavy rush of devotees. “We had placed adequate traffic management plans in and around Hazratbal, and additional parking facilities were arranged,” a Traffic Department official said.
Municipal and Power Department officials also ensured uninterrupted water and electricity supply throughout the night.
Markets in Srinagar and other parts of the valley took on a festive atmosphere, with people thronging shops to buy essentials ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. “It feels different on this night; there is spirituality in the air, and at the same time, a joyous vibe as we prepare for Eid,” said another worshipper.
With echoing prayers, and the valley filled with faith and devotion, this year’s Shab-e-Qadr was observed with great religious enthusiasm.
