Jammu, Sept 11: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, on Thursday called for not only delivering justice but also ensuring that it appears to have been done.
Addressing meetings at villages including Dhalpar, ShivNagar, Tanal, Johnu, Barta, Garh Samnabanj, Chore Panjian, Mottu, Babey, Sundla, Palnu, Pathwar, Cheani, Seen Brahmana, Dhanori, Seen Thakran, Dhanoo, Upper Thanoa, Rakh Thanoa, and surrounding areas, he reaffirmed his commitment to serve the public and stand with them during times of distress, reflecting the core values of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He said, “We believe in reaching out to every distressed and traumatized family in this hour of crisis. It is our Karma and Dharma to serve the public.”
Pathania assured that all households affected by recent floods, whether totally, severely, or partially damaged, will receive appropriate compensation. “Efforts will be made to restore and strengthen damaged infrastructure, including roads, buildings, electricity lines, and water supply systems, to bolster resilience against future weather-related disasters,” he added.
The MLA directed police and revenue departments to ensure that affected individuals are not burdened by repeated visits to government offices, and urged officials to act promptly on reports from chowkidars and lambardars, filing relief cases without delay. He called on the public to actively report damages to public infrastructure and take ownership of their community’s recovery, recognizing that such losses present significant challenges ahead.
“Justice should not only be done but must also be seen to be done. In these trying times, it is crucial that we reach out to everyone in need,” Pathania said. He announced that sector-wise financial allocations would soon be sought from Union Ministers to address infrastructural damage and expressed hope that the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Jammu and Kashmir would bring relief and support to the flood-affected people.
The BJP leader further said that estimates for the permanent restoration of clogged roads would be sent shortly, along with provisions to address any further damages that may occur in the coming week.
The tour was attended by local leaders including Mohan Lal Sharma, Ashish Sharma (Mandal Pradhans), Bishan, Om Prakash, Ashok Singh, Surinder Singh, Nisha Rani, Romesh Gupta, Raman Khajuria, Manoj Verma, Kuldip Singh, Sunit Singh (all sarpanches), Shiv Ram, among others, the statement added.
