With the goal of empowering women and offering them a means of sustainable income, a self-help group (SHG) in BK Pora village has launched a flower nursery as part of the UMEED scheme in Budgam.

This endeavor is designed to provide these women with a reliable source of income and boost their economic self-sufficiency.

The flower nursery serves a dual purpose by creating job opportunities for women and actively supporting the conservation of indigenous plant species and the promotion of local flora.

The self-help group has been trained in nursery management, plant propagation techniques, and marketing strategies to ensure the sustainability and profitability of the venture.

By establishing the flower nursery, the rural women of Budgam are not only able to generate income for themselves and their families but also contribute to the beautification of their community and the promotion of local biodiversity.

The flowers grown in the nursery can be sold for various purposes, such as decorations, gifts, or landscaping projects.

This initiative is a step towards women’s empowerment and rural development, as it enables women to be economically self-reliant and actively participate in the local economy.

It also encourages entrepreneurship and innovation among rural women, allowing them to explore their potential and contribute to the growth and development of their community.

The establishment of the flower nursery by the self-help group in B.K.Pora village of Budgam district not only creates employment opportunities but also serves as a model for other communities to replicate.

It showcases the potential of women to contribute to economic growth and sustainable development.

With these initiatives, more women’s come forward to start startups in rural areas of Kashmir Valley. (ANI)
