Santosh Trophy: J&K Senior Men’s Football Team tops group after dominant win against Ladakh

Srinagar, Nov 24: Jammu and Kashmir Senior Men’s Football Team delivered an exceptional performance in their last Phase-1 group match of the Santosh Trophy, defeating Ladakh 5-0. The team showcased remarkable skill and strategy, securing their place at the top of the group with an unbeaten record.

With this victory, J&K accumulated 9 points from three matches, scoring an impressive 10 goals and conceding only 1. The team’s consistent performances have solidified their reputation as a formidable contender in the competition.

The J&K team, led by the experienced coaching duo of Mehrajuddin Wadoo, an ex-international footballer and national coach, and Chief Coach Satpal Singh Kala, along with physiotherapist Burhan Amin demonstrated their preparedness and teamwork on the field. The success is also a testament to the rigorous training camps held in Srinagar and Jammu, organized under the guidance of the J&K Sports Council.

Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, congratulated the team on their brilliant performance and praised both the athletes and technical staff. He highlighted the immense talent in J&K, especially in a popular sport like football, and expressed confidence in the team’s future achievements.

Secretary of Youth Services and Sports,Sarmad Hafeez, commended the players and officials for their excellent performance in the first round of the competition.

Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, lauded the contingent’s efforts and expressed pride in their achievements. She emphasized her belief that J&K football belongs at the top of the Indian football map. She credited the success to the meticulous selection process, extensive training camps, and expert coaching provided by the J&K Sports Council team’s dedicated staff.

J&K’s dominant display in the first round of the Santosh Trophy serves as an inspiration for aspiring footballers in the region, showcasing the growing potential and talent in the sport.

With the qualification into the final round, Jammu & Kashmir will now be playing final round matches at Telangana starting from 14th Dec 2024. (KNS)
