Ganderbal, Dec 30: The scenic route from Wayil in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir to Sarbal, Sonamarg overlooking famous river Sindh has become a prime selfie attraction for tourists.
Located just 40 to 50 kilometres from Srinagar, Ganderbal district is gaining recognition as one of the beautiful tourist destinations that blends breathtaking landscapes with cultural richness.
While Mansbal, Naranag and Sonamarg remain prominent tourist spots, the serene settings along river Sindh are stealing the limelight. Key locations such as Wayil Bridge, Wussan Bypass, Gund 21, Gadribal, Mamer, Yechama Thune, Gagangeer, Hung, Sonamarg, and Sarbal are attracting travellers eager to capture the natural beauty of the region in their travel photos.
Local residents are advocating for government intervention to further develop the scenic route. They believe that improving infrastructure and promoting tourism in the area will not only enhance the visitor experience but also provide economic benefits. This, they argue, would especially help the region’s educated yet unemployed youth by creating job opportunities in the tourism sector.
“The view is really breathtaking. It’s fit for selfies,” said Sunita, a tourist from New Delhi while taking a selfi. Her sister, Sawita shared similar experience stating that the view of river Sindh is awesome. “Every point is selfie point. We thought to grab the opportunity and take the selfies to keep it as a memory of visiting Ganderbal district,” she said. Accompanying them, Ravi Kumar, said Ganderbal district is beautiful and river Sindh is best location for selfies and other photographs that can be saved as memories.
A group of tourists from Maharashtra were seen capturing photographs as well. “It’s a wonderful selfie spot. Ganderbal district is bestowed with natural beauty. Sonmarg is heaven,” they said.
