Srinagar, Nov 28 : Security forces intensified the search operations along the Poonch-Rajouri forests for the 6th consecutive day on Tuesday to hunt down the terrorists hiding in the forests.
The officials revealed that a massive search operation against holed-up terrorists continued on Tuesday in dense forests where five army personnel and two terrorists were killed last week in a fierce encounter between forces and terrorists. A senior police official told Rising Kashmir that an anti terror operation is underway while there was no contact with the hiding terrorists in the area.
“Few suspects have been detained for questioning and they will be released after the investigation is completed,” the officer said.
The official said the entire forest belt is still under tight security cordon to neutralise the terrorists. The area is mountainous and the forest is dense, making the operation difficult and dangerous,” he added.
Pertinent to mention here, on November 22, two Army captains and three soldiers were killed in the Rajouri encounter. Following the massive searches two Pakistani terrorists were also killed during the operation in the Pir Panchal region.
