Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to arrive in Jammu today and, subject to weather conditions, may visit Chasoti village in Kishtwar district, which was devastated by a cloudburst, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said.
Sinha, who visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu this morning to meet the injured, confirmed that 32 people remain missing even as rescue operations continue. He said all those admitted are stable.
The LG said relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway, with ₹4.13 crore disbursed so far to the victims. He assured that both the J&K administration and the Centre will provide full support to affected families.
“If weather permits, the Defence Minister will travel to Kishtwar; otherwise, he will visit GMC Jammu before returning to Delhi,” Sinha said.
He also urged people to remain cautious as heavy rains persist across the region and multiple advisories remain in force.
