Srinagar, Feb 3: The Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), a leading non-profit organisation headquartered in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, has conferred the prestigious title of Hon. Distinguished Fellow on Professor M. Aslam.
This recognition highlights the significant contributions of Prof. Aslam, who hails from Jammu & Kashmir, to the field of education and social science research. Founded in 2001 by a distinguished group of academicians, scholars, and administrators, under the leadership of Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap, former Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha, AGRASRI serves as an autonomous, independent, and non-political NGO. It aims to advance research and grassroots studies across India.
Prof. Aslam, a former Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, has earned national and international acclaim for his contributions to education. He has authored eight books, dozens of book chapters, and research papers published both in India and internationally. He is also a member of the Collegium of Eminent Social Scientists and a fellow at the EDI of the World Bank. Over the course of his distinguished career, Prof. Aslam has been recognised with seven national and international awards, including the Commonwealth of Learning President’s Award of Excellence.
The recognition from AGRASRI is a testament to Prof. Aslam’s exceptional leadership and scholarly achievements. His influence extends globally, having visited 35 countries and contributed significantly to the development of higher education and social science research. His appointment as an Hon. Distinguished Fellow at AGRASRI underscores the high regard in which he is held in academic circles. The Academy’s Board of Governors and Board of Advisers include other prominent figures such as Prof. Sukhadeo K. Thorat, former Chairman of the University Grants Commission, and Dr. Anugraha Narayan Tiwari, former Chief Information Commissioner, among others. This distinction further affirms Prof. Aslam’s esteemed standing in the field. It is an honour for the state of Jammu & Kashmir to have a representative like Prof. M. Aslam honoured by one of India’s most reputed academic institutions.
