The police authorities in Baramulla have warned the public about a fake Instagram account that has been created in the name of SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS.
The imposter has been sending friend requests to users and demanding money.
According to a police official, the fake account has been used to scam unsuspecting victims.
“The fraudster has been posing as Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, SSP Baramulla and requesting money from those who accept the friend request,” the official added.
In response to the situation, the police authorities have advised the public to not accept any friend requests from the fake account and not to transfer any money.
Baramulla police also assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the fraudulent activity.
A police official said that the incident serves as a reminder for users to be vigilant when accepting friend requests and to verify the authenticity of the accounts before sharing any personal information or transferring any money.
