Police organises Cybercrime awareness programme at STC Humhama

December 12: In view of the recent surge in trends of cybercrimes and keeping in view the vulnerability of security forces, Police in Budgam organised a Cybercrime awareness Programme at STC BSF Humhama, which was attended by officers and Jawans of Border Security Force (BSF).
On the occasion, Addl. SP Budgam Shri Gowhar Ahmed Khan-JKPS hosted the event. The main motive behind conducting such programme is to spread awareness about various cyber frauds among the officers and Jawans of security forces. During the inaugural speech, ASP Budgam briefed about various types of cyber threats/activities viz, Malware attacks, Ransomware, OLX fraud, KYC scam, Identity theft, investment Scam, Loan offer Fraud etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairing officer advised that since cybercrime has increased manifold and security force jawans are main targets, so the officers/Jawans need to observe high level of alertness especially those working on computer systems. He also appealed to the participants to remain extra cautious about the risks associated with digital transactions and social media applications in use. He also advised the participants to observe utmost caution as this is the age of Cyber Warfare. Besides, the participants were also briefed about the various cyber laws which are applicable against criminals.
The participants expressed their gratitude towards Police for their efforts in organising such a special “Cyber Awareness Programme” to literate them about the various trends of cybercrimes prevailing on date.
