Police books 3 SMC employees for assaulting traffic cops

Srinagar, Feb 07: The Srinagar police on Tuesday said it has registered an FIR against three Srinagar Municipal corporation (SMC) employees for assaulting traffic cops and breaking traffic booth.
In a tweet, Srinagar police wrote, “An incident has come to notice wherein one SMC employee aggrieved by challan on not having HSRP, came back and broke a traffic booth with others, later assaulted traffic personnel on duty. In this regard FIR has been registered in Shergari PS against 3 delinquent SMC employees.”
Police also said, all three accused have been formally arrested in the case after legal formalities. The three had also kidnapped the traffic personnel in a car after creating ruckus.
 
 
SMC suspends 2 employees
Hours after Srinagar, police filed an FIR against Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) employees for “assaulting” a traffic cop and breaking a traffic booth in Srinagar, the corporation has suspended two employees.
Niyaz Ahmad Gabroo (I/C Ward Officer, Ward No. 30) and Ovais Farooq Khan (Tax Assistant, Ward No. 30) have been put under suspension with immediate effect and attached to the office of the Secretary, SMC till pending enquiry into the matter, reads the order issued by Joint Commissioner SMC.
It further reads: “Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir, Joint Commissioner for Planning, shall do the detailed inquiry and submit a detailed report within 7 days.”
Further, Ward Officer Ward No. 3 shall hold the charge of Ward Officer Ward No. 30 in addition to his own duties until further orders, the order reads.
