Srinagar, July 9:  In a major crackdown on terror operatives and their support networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized properties belonging to a Pakistan-based terror handler and top commander of the proscribed outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JUM) in Sogam, Kupwara.A statement issued here said that the action was taken against Ghulam Rasool Shah alias Rafia Rasool Shah, son of Abdul Jabbar Shah, originally a resident of Peer Mohalla, Chandigam, Lolab. Currently operating from across the border, the accused has been actively involved in planning and facilitating terrorist activities in the region for several years. As part of the legal proceedings, 5 kanals and 3 marlas of land belonging to Shah at Peer Mohalla Chandigam have been attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A]. This property attachment is linked to FIR No. 276/2022 registered at Police Station Kupwara, which includes charges under Sections 120B, 121A, 122, and 123 of the IPC, along with Sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39, and 40 of the UA(P)A.The statement said that this decisive move is part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling the logistical, financial, and operational infrastructure of terrorist organizations and their cross-border handlers. The seizure of property sends a strong message to those involved in or supporting anti-national activities, whether from within the region or outside the country.
