PM Vishwakarma scheme: 2-day awareness prog held in B’la

Baramulla, Oct 16: In an endeavour to implement the recently launched PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojna in the district to uplift the artisans and craftspeople, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Syed Sehrish Asgar today presided over a two day district level workshop cum awareness programme at Dak Bunglow, here.
The workshop, organised by District Industries Centre (DIC) Baramulla was attended by General Manager DIC, Nighat Alam, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Functional Manager DIC, Rehana Kazmi  and other concerned functionaries. 
At the outset, the workshop was provided with the comprehensive overview of the benefits that the scheme entails to empower traditional artisans and the craftspeople. The scheme provides toolkit incentive of Rs.15000, Rs 500 per day during training, credit facilities to the beneficiaries up to 1 lakh (first tranche) and 2 Lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5% including an in depth training to upgrade their skills. 
 A key focus of the workshop was to equip panchayat secretaries and CSC officials with the necessary tools to identify eligible beneficiaries both at the rural and urban level and apprise them of the scheme’s benefits.
Dr. Sehrish while speaking on the occasion, emphasized the critical importance of ensuring that the scheme benefits reach the deserving population. 
The DC further directed the concerned functionaries to identify the eligible beneficiaries within a week’s time.
