Srinagar, June 17: Minister of State and Chairperson Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday said the contribution of the earlier “family parties” was to “divide” people on the basis of religion, region and ethnicity “just to loot the resources” of J&K.
“They gifted us graveyards, migration camps, death and destruction, and shamelessly they talked about their contribution. (PM) Modiji is the saviour of the people of J&K who ushered in the era of peace, reconstruction, development and public welfare without any social divisions,” Dr Andrabi said while addressing a “grand” public rally organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party here in Jawahar Nagar in connection with the party celebrations to commemorate the completion of nine years of the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP’s popularity is the public endorsement of Modiji’s Kashmir policy, Dr Darakhshan added.
Party General Secretary Sunil Sharma in his speech said, “Dynasts are frustrated. Their unruly language is enough to expose them to the public. BJP has transformed Kashmir and given a new life to the ailing working systems in the UT.
He said that those who ruled J&K for decades “did nothing but sentimental exploitation of masses and are now daring to preach to us the ways of democracy”. “They deprived J&K of the local body elections for seven decades and are now talking about our escape from elections. We are ready to uproot them from public space as and when the Election Commission takes a decision,” he said. Ex-MLC Surinder Ambardar was also present on the occasion.
