Budgam, Mar 18: People’s Democratic Party on Tuesday held a strategic meeting in Budgam district, focusing on organisational strengthening and addressing the pressing concerns of locals.
The meeting, led by PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khurshid Alam, brought together key party leaders including Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, District President Mohammad Yasin, G.R. Malik and several senior party colleagues from Budgam, the party said in a statement issued here.
During the comprehensive discussion, party leaders deliberated on future strategies to reinforce the party’s presence in the region and effectively address the challenges faced by residents of Jammu and Kashmir. “Today’s meeting represents our continued commitment to the people of Budgam and the broader Kashmir Valley,” General Secretary Alam said. “We are determined to build a robust organizational structure that resonates with the aspirations of our people. The current situation demands that we strengthen our grassroots connections and work diligently to address the day-to-day concerns of our citizens.”
Alam emphasised the importance of unity within party ranks to achieve their objectives. “Our strength lies in our collective resolve. Every member of the PDP family must work in tandem to ensure that we remain connected with the people we serve. Their struggles are our struggles and their aspirations guide our political vision,” he added.
The meeting saw the unanimous endorsement of the party president Mehbooba Mufti’s “ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering” of people across Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said, adding that participants expressed their full support for the leadership’s initiatives aimed at restoring dignity and normalcy to the region.
Aga Muntazir Mehdi, addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of sustained engagement with the people. “We must remain accessible to our people at all times. The path forward requires patience, perseverance and a deep understanding of local issues. Our party has always believed in the politics of reconciliation and development and we will continue to follow this path despite numerous challenges,” Mehdi said.
District president Yasin thanked the participants for their “overwhelming support” and assured the General Secretary that all efforts will be made to make party cadres vibrant at all levels.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have built hope on us and we are committed to honouring this trust through dedicated service and unwavering advocacy for their rights and welfare,” he said.
The meeting concluded with the formulation of concrete action plans to expand the party’s outreach programs and strengthen its organisational structure across the district, with a particular focus on engaging youth and addressing unemployment concerns, the statement added.
