Jammu, Oct 08: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference Senior Vice President and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday said the party will always fight to ensure equitable development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a party workers’ convention at Gandhi Nagar here, Vakil said PC strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of J&K which is the need of the hour, the party said in a statement issued here.
He said good governance, transparency and accountability are missing from the scene in J&K and accused the administration of acting as a mute spectator to the people’s miseries.
“Unemployment is at an all-time high and it is shocking in this LG-led admin. Recruitments are nowhere but recruitment scams are at an all-time high,” he added.
Vakil urged the Government of India to end the prevalent ‘bureaucratic raj’ and allow the popular government to be elected without delay. “It is unfortunate and shocking that a democratic country like India is depriving people of J&K to elect their own government and has instead set up a bureaucratic system which is failing on the ground,” he said.
The PC leader in his address stressed upon the Government of India to initiate confidence-building measures, saying the distance between the common people of J&K and mainstream is increasing day by day due to the “anti-people” policies of both the Centre and the LG administration.
“To end the widening wedge between the people and the mainstream and to regain trust and win back their hearts, the Central government must restore statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and release political prisoners, regularise 60,000 casual labourers and daily wagers and announce an employment package for the unemployed youth of J&K so that the same could pre-empt the larger democratic process to flourish in an otherwise crisis-ridden place,” he said.
Others who addressed the convention include District President Jammu Mohan Lal Radha, District Youth President Ratan Lal and General Secretary Mahila Wing Jammu District Renu Bala, the statement said.
