Srinagar, July 07: With the commencement of the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, the Azadar-e-Imam Hussain (AS) in Srinagar gathered at Imam Bargah Zadibal to observe the traditional Parcham Kushai (flag changing ceremony). This sacred ritual marks the beginning of the mourning period for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala.
The ceremony was attended by prominent religious leaders, scholars and community members. The event began with the recitation of Quranic verses and eulogies in memory of Imam Hussain (AS). The old flag was then ceremoniously replaced with a new black one, symbolizing the continuation of the Imam’s message and the community’s commitment to his principles.
Molvi Adeel, a renowned religious scholar, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Muharram and the importance of emulating Imam Hussain’s (AS) values of courage, justice, and sacrifice.
The event concluded with a collective prayer and a call for unity and solidarity among the community. (KNS)
